The second in a series of free clinical seminars to be presented ?by The Midwest Self Psychology Study Group, a local group of ?senior clinicians affiliated with the International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology (IAPSP)

Newberry Library, 60 West Walton, ChicagoOpen to all interested mental health professionals, these seminars will highlight the self psychological understanding of the therapeutic process. After a very well attended and well-received initial seminar in November, this second seminar will continue to focus on how therapists influenced by self psychology listen and what they listen for - including the “forward edge” or leading edge of the patient’s experience and behavior.

After a brief didactic introduction by Dr. Jill Gardner, Dr. Carla Leone will present a clinical case in which self psychology, including the forward edge concept, influenced her work. Ample time will be allotted for questions and discussion with the audience and other members of the study group.

The seminar is appropriate for clinicians who are very familiar with self psychology as well as those who are newer to it, and for both huge supporters of the theory and those who affiliate more with other approaches. All are most welcome to join us for what promises to be a stimulating clinical conversation.
