Prosthetic Symposium: Transtibial and Transfemoral Gait Deviations and Assessments
This two hour introductory presentation is a must for healthcare and rehabilitation professionals who work with or care for prosthetic patients. The presentation discusses whether a prosthetic gait deviation is caused by an alignment problem with a prostesis, a poor gait habit adoped by the amputee, or a muscular/joint weakness that can be correced by strengthening exercises. Attendees will learn how to identify the more common gait deviations for transfemoral and transtibial amputees and will review their causes, effects, and corrections. The presentation will feature digital video examples of the gait deviations as well as demonstratins of the methods of correcting the challenge.

All attendees are required to attend the entire session, sign in at the beginning at the end of the course. Throughout the presentation learning outcomes will be assessed through instructor interaction and attendee’s participation and verbal responses to Q & A unless a written assessment is required by an applicable approving State Board or Organization.
