Private Small Group to Impressionism Art Collection at National Gallery of Art

If you though that your local community art gallery was cut throat then you haven’t been introduced to the French Salon of the early 1860’s. A time when politics was as heavy as a layered chiffon skirt, and art was by the numbers, change was rip to happen. Curiously, the art scene would be met by renegades whom dubbed themselves Impressionist. We will walk you through the rise and fall of this fabulous art scene by looking at several iconic examples created by the likes of Edouard Manet, Eugene Boudin, Mary Cassatt, Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Gauguin, Camille Pissaro, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Claude Monet.

Our small group will discover the close friendships, few power brokers, and technical advances that allowed this powder keg of innovation to explode. Our small group two-hour odyssey begins at the lower level constitution Avenue entrance to the National Gallery of Art. We will begin the tour by taking a look at the iconic sculpture Little Dancer before moving into the National Gallery of Art Impressionism Exhibit Hall where we will find the answer; Why was the French Salon ripe for disruption by a few artists.
