The Poverty Simulation is a guided, role-playing experience that promotes a deeper understanding of the barriers people face when they are seeking assistance and services. This training can help participants think differently about how poverty impacts the diverse day -to-day experiences of people from a wide variety of backgrounds and circumstances.
During the Poverty Simulation participants will be assigned a character who has to navigate complex and time-consuming public benefits agencies, community organizations, and service providers; try to make ends meet by having to pay bills, buy groceries, and get to work; and care for their children by getting them to school or day care and keeping them out of trouble.
This is a 2.5 - 3 Hour program. Participants will need to check-in at least 15 minutes before the training starts and must be able to stay for the de-briefing session.
