Alla Prima Portraits with Oil Paints on Canvas

RESERVATION REQUIRED – Classes & workshops are conducted in a safe environment – We will be observing quarantine measures such as wearing masks, social distancing, and anti-infection procedures. Registration will be required for our art activities, and class size will be limited to 10 people. No drop-ins.

Alla prima or wet-on-wet, is a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint. Used mostly in oil painting, the technique requires a fast way of working, because the work has to be finished before the first layers have dried. By the end of this workshop you will have a 16 x20 portrait on canvas completed or nearly completed.

The objective of painting Alla Prima is to finish the artwork on one sitting. All materials supplied. Bring a reference portrait image of someone you would like to paint or yourself if you would like a self-portrait. More information will be provided upon enrollment before the workshop date.

Spanish speakers are welcome to the workshop.
