Plants for butterflies, moths, bees, hummingbirds and other pollinators will be the focus of our spring festival.

9:30 a.m. – Bruce Turley: Advantages of Growing Butterfly & Pollinator Plants in Containers
A pioneer in promoting using native plants in urban landscapes, Bruce is the owner of Wilcox Nursery and Landscaping. He is president of the Florida Association of Native Nurseries, a trade association dedicated to educating about and promulgation native plants.

10:30 a.m. – Chris Parisi: Homeowner’s Guide to Growing Milkweed from Seed
A challenging plant to grow from seed, Chris will use his years of experience and passion for promulgating native milkweed to help the home grower understand what to expect and how to avoid the numerous pitfalls that plague plant production. He will also explain how to keep milkweed plants going. 11:30 a.m. – Katy Roberts: Flutter & Buzz: What Bees & Other Pollinators Mean to Biodiversity & How to Support Them.
Katy is a founding member of the Pinellas Chapter and a longtime advocate of “going” native to create biodiversity in the urban landscape. She will use her decades of experience to help you understand the importance of pollinators and tell you which plants are best to attract and support them.

12:30 p.m. – Pam Traas: Butterfly Gardening with Florida’s Native Plants
Pam’s book Gardening for Florida’s Butterflies has provided information and encouragement to many of us in our endeavors to make our landscapes havens for winged wonders. Learn how you can attract more butterflies, and more species of butterflies, to your garden and keep them there.
