Perfume 202

Good lab habits can provide the backbone for a thriving creative practice. For that reason, we're pleased to present a new recurring class led by IAO's own Ashley Eden Kessler.

Designed to provide important next steps for budding perfumers, perfume 202 will teach you the crucial information for setting up a professional perfume lab, and helping you ensure that your practice is built on a solid foundation. This recurring class will cover the important technical minutiae: From how to use a scale to how to make a lab solution, an overview of lab hygiene and organization, and how to maintain your scent organ. This class, in short, will allow you to orient yourself as an aspiring perfumer, and help you set up a thriving independent perfume laboratory of your own.

Topics covered:
+ Introduction to perfume lab techniques: Pipette techniques (basic and advanced), how to use a scale
+ Overview of lab hygiene and organization
+ How to set up your work station.
+ Overview of perfume organ set-up and maintenance
+ Demonstration of making a dilution from pure to diluted, for safe use in perfume-blending

Take-Aways:
Participants will leave with a more advanced sense of how to work in their lab, and the tools to start their professional practice.

CANCELLATION POLICY

When we host a class or workshop, we often order the materials to be used in the class well in advance, based on how many people have signed up (and padding a bit for safety). We also use class proceeds to pay our teachers.

Although we realize that life has a funny way of getting in the way of the best laid plans, as a small non-profit we cannot afford to carry the burden of lost proceeds and materials. With that in mind, here is our refund policy:

– Cancellation with refund or credit requests made 2 weeks or more (14 days) before the scheduled class will be honored with gusto! We’ll miss you, but will 100% refund your spot, or give you credit for another class.
– Refunds or class credits requested less than 14 days before the scheduled class: We will refund you 50% of your class fee. Why? Because we’ve already ordered the materials.
– Refunds or class credits requested less than 48 hours before the class, on the day of the class or after the class has happened will not be granted.

Note also that event tickets are non-transferable.
