Facebook Comment Guidelines Welcome to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (WDFW) Facebook page, where you will find news, tips, video, photos and more. We want to hear from you, and we welcome your comments. WDFW accepts comments in an effort to stimulate conversation, learn from our followers, provide customer service, convey news and information and communicate outdoor recreation opportunities. Please be aware that if you post comments on our Facebook page, you take personal responsibility for your comments, use of your username and any information provided. WDFW reserves the right to block, hide or remove any comments that: Do not relate to posted topics; express support or opposition to a political candidate, campaign or ballot measure; include profane or obscene language or images; contain personal attacks or abusive comments directed at individuals, threats of violence or threats of legal action; promote commercial products or businesses; express discrimination based on legally protected status such as race, creed, color, age, religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation; promote illegal activity; compromise the safety or security of the public or public systems; transmit protected or private information; violate a legal ownership interest of any party including copyright and trademark; and/or comments that contain links to sites that violate any of these restrictions. WDFW seeks civil discussion in its public engagement efforts and will work to limit trolling, defined as making deliberately offensive or provocative online posts with the aim of upsetting someone or eliciting an angry response from them. Individuals who seek to make offensive comments with the aim of eliciting an angry response or who appear to be working to spread misinformation will have their content hidden and their profile banned from WDFW’s Facebook page if the behavior continues. Repeat comments or comments repeating the same information in different threads may be deleted. We will not allow personal attacks or abusive, threatening or harassing language or behavior. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in a comment being hidden or deleted, or if the behavior continues, banning a user from the WDFW Facebook page. Comments submitted on WDFW’s Facebook page are public records and are subject to public disclosure under Washington state’s public records law. If you post comments on WDFW’s Facebook page, you are responsible for any information contained in your comments. Information and images posted by WDFW on this Facebook page may be distributed or reproduced, but we ask that you attribute the information to WDFW. Information from external websites that you access from this site may be subject to copyright and licensing restrictions; you should check directly with sources before distributing.
