USF CERT

USF's Community Emergency Response Team is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting, training, and providing education on emergency preparedness within the University of South Florida and its surrounding communities. The USF Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT volunteers can assist others in their community following a disaster when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency preparedness projects. USF CERT may be activated during disasters to support Hillsborough County agencies in multiple roles, including volunteer management, evacuation support and management, damage assessment, resource distribution, and any other duties as needed. #USFCERT
