The ULM Museum of Natural History had 6,248 visitors from Jan. 1 2010 to Jan. 1 2011. The Neil H Douglas Collection of Fishes contains the 3rd largest university based fish collection in the world. The R. Dale Thomas Collection of Plants contains the largest plant collection in the state (Larger than all of the other collections combined) and is the 2nd largest in the S.E. U.S.. The native American artifact collection is one of the most extensive in the country and contains some of the oldest artifacts in N. America. The Museum of Natural History showcases displays of zoology specimens, plant specimens, and geoscience exhibits from around the world, with an emphasis on Louisiana and the surrounding regions. 6 million fish, a half a million plant specimens, a large collection of native American artifacts, dinosaur bones and replicas (Tyranosaurus rex, Allosaurus fragilis, etc.), rocks, minerals, and geological speicmens.
