The Zoological Lighting Institute

The Zoological Lighting Institute a US based 501 (c)(3) Nonprofit, dedicated to wildlife conservation and animal welfare lighting challenges. The Zoological Lighting Institute™ provides scholarships, grants, post-doctorates to researchers in photobiology and photo-ecology. It conducts advocacy programming to advance welfare and conservation enhancing strategies, as well as consultation to communities and institutions wishing to pursue Lights Out and wildlife sensitive lighting strategies. The Zoological Lighting Institute™ provides programming and research support, dedicated to serving a mission of animal welfare and wildlife conservation. We believe that creative scientific approaches and advocacy are both necessary to address the challenges associated with artificial lighting and other modifications to the luminous environment. The Zoological Lighting Institute focuses upon photobiology and photo-ecology, raising awareness of the importance of light to exotic animal husbandry and to conservation initiatives alike.
