The Pacific Ohana Foundation
Seattle, WA, United States
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the past to protect the future by promoting programs of arts and literature, historical and archival, and health and lifestyle content of the South Pacific Basin communities. https://keypennews.com/aloha-marketplace-opens-in-purdy/ We provide a variety of native Hawaiian and Polynesian education classes, workshops, conferences, film presentations, music, dance, and cultural events that helps interact and engage the public and provides an opportunity to share, preserve, protect, and perpetuate the Pacific Rim Basin cultures and people's stories. The Pacific ‘Ohana Foundation is a non-profit organization and founded by the elders of the Pacific Rim Basin native people. The main interest of POF is in preserving, protecting and perpetuating the legacy of their ancestors. This responsibility of passing on the rich cultures, history, as well as the genealogies (originally in the oral history form before western influence of the written language introduction and technological advances), is supported by the organization’s members. Unfortunately much of the rich oral history died with the passing of their elders, and is POF’s vision to continue telling stories through films, books, videos, audio recordings, artwork, hand crafts, wooden carvings, and animations.
