Rotary International is a service organization with 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries. Rotary is a diverse organization, apolitical and nonsectarian, open to all faiths. The Lake Charles Happy Hour Rotary Club is more than club, it is a Rotary family – sharing time and working together to improve our community and the world in which we all live. Through weekly meetings and club project involvement, you will gain the lifelong friendships that you would not acquire otherwise. The Lake Charles Happy Hour Rotary is truly a club of fellowship, community, and business connections like no other. What are my Commitments to Rotary? Club members assume personal and financial obligations including dues, attending meetings and participating in club projects. The primary purpose of a Rotary Club is to provide service to the local community through donations of time, talent, and treasure. The Lake Charles Happy Hour Rotary Club actively participates in the Rotary Foundation that serves the international community and local projects through Rotary District 6200. Fellowship and Business Connections. Rotary membership has a certain prestige. You will meet many of the community’s present and upcoming leaders. There will be opportunities to network, socialize, and develop business relationships with other club members. However, expecting to network and solicit business from other members should not be the motivation for joining Rotary. Members should refrain from networking for business purposes during club meetings. When members focus on Rotary activities, business opportunities will often appear at the most unexpected times. Attendance. Rotary International has an attendance requirement for all members. You will be expected to attend at least 50% of the weekly meetings. When you cannot attend your regular weekly meeting, you can do a makeup at any Rotary club anywhere in the world. Attending meetings in other local clubs, other states, or other countries has proven to be one of the highlights of being a Rotarian. When you walk into another club’s meeting, you will instantly be surrounded by new friends and e welcomed warmly. Additionally, the Lake Charles Happy Hour Rotary Club offers its members the opportunity to attend meetings virtually via FaceTime or Google Hangouts. Also, participating in club, district, Rotary International committee meeting or participation in a club event or club community project counts as attendance credit.
