We RunKNOX! RunKNOX - "We RunKNOX!" RunKNOX is a system of training programs aimed at developing a bonded community of runners who achieve personal success and individual greatness through the support of peers and the guidance of experienced coaches. Whether you are attempting to run your 1st marathon, your fastest 5k or your FIRST STEP, RunKNOX will provide you with the knowledge, guidance and support to do so. Through our group practices, social events and free classes/seminars, you will have the opportunity to learn from some of Knoxville’s most experienced running coaches and become a part of the RunKNOX Community. Our Coaches: Scott Schmidt Scott is the Head Coach and Program Director of RunKNOX. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, receiving his bachelor's degree in Education (Exercise Science concentration) in 2003 and master's degree in Exercise Physiology in 2006. He works for the Department of Energy as an Exercise Physiologist, focusing on employee physical fitness testing, training, and wellness promotion. Scott is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and RRCA Certified Running Coach. Scott ran the 2007 Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon to check "marathon" off of his bucket list. That "one and done" marathon has turned into 20+ as he’s now working toward checking a marathon in all 50 states off of his list. He and his wife, Angie, are extremely active in the Knoxville Track Club and received the 2013 Ginny Canfield Memorial Service Award in appreciation of their volunteer efforts. Scott volunteers time by serving on the Board of Directors, Road Race Committee, and as a Race Director. Eden Slater Eden is an assistant coach with RunKNOX. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a former runner on the Missouri Track and Field and Cross Country Teams. Although her day job is Volunteer Coordinator at the CAC Office on Aging, running has always been a leading passion in her life. Eden started going for solo runs at age 11, was MVP of her high school track and cross country teams, and walked onto the Missouri Track and Field Team her sophomore year of college. Since living in Knoxville, Eden has expanded her running into trail races and longer distances - running the KTC Trail series, multiple half marathons, and placing 3rd in the 2017 Knoxville Marathon. She has worked with RunKNOX since 2015 and recently attended the RRCA Certified Running Coach Course. Sarah Hopkins Sarah is an assistant coach with RunKNOX.
