Helping victims of sex trafficking and people working in the sex industry with the Madera Police Department. OLIVE was founded by a small group of individuals with a shared desire to help those in need within our communities and neighborhoods, which in turn will establish a better way of life for all. Our active members are from all backgrounds including law enforcement, students, social workers and former sex industry employees who felt a calling to assist those in need. OLIVE is accomplished through volunteer work and the generosity of organizations and individuals. Olive was established out of a necessity for an organization in the area that caters to, and provides for members of the sex industry or victims of human trafficking. Although this has been generally treated through the use of laws and enforcement through judicial actions, OLIVE believes a more permanent solution is through community outreach and education. Although not a new concept, the idea of OLIVE cannot be found locally. The nearest organization similar to OLIVE can be found near the coast in the San Francisco area, or down south in the LA area. This lead to the establishment of OLIVE as an organization used to fill that gap. Although statistics can be difficult to locate, based on conventional data such as advertisement of sex trade and street contacts, it is believed at least 2000 people participate in the sex industry in the Fresno/Madera area each day.
