Nashville Dolphins
95 White Bridge Rd, Ste 209, Nashville, 37205, TN, United States
The Nashville Dolphins is an aquatics program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Programs are free to all thanks to community support! The Nashville Dolphins Aquatics Program has three offerings. The Future Dolphins is a "learn to swim" program. These group lessons take place at the Centennial Sportsplex. Vanderbilt students complete their curriculum requirements as volunteer instructors. Nashville Dolphin's staff of experienced instructors teach the Vanderbilt students how to work best with their swimmer. These children receive free swim lessons while Vanderbilt students learn how to work with children who have special needs. The Junior Dolphin program is for individuals who know how to swim but need to learn the basic strokes and build their endurance so they can one day join the swim team and compete in Special Olympics. These swimmers are included in all social activities along with the Dolphin Swim Team. The Swim Team is the most advanced, skilled practice group of our programs. We presently have 50+ members on our team. We offer four practices a week, year round, to train, improve swimming skills and build endurance. Our swimmers compete in Special Olympics locally, regionally and sometimes nationally. In addition to practices and meets, we organize social events to enhance the lives of our participants. We cover all expenses for our swimmers including travel to out of town meets.
