The Los Angeles Rugby Club is a premier First Division amateur rugby team that competes in the Southern California Rugby Football Union. Founded:1958 This letter is to introduce you to the Los Angeles Rugby Club (LARC). Founded in 1958 we are proud to have been part of the Los Angeles community continuously since then. Our members and alumni come from all walks of life and mirror the cultural diversity of Los Angeles. The purpose of LARC, as stated in our Constitution is, “To foster national and international sports competition and to promote and practice the principles of sportsmanship, fellowship, hospitality, and a high standard of amateur athletic participation in the sport of Rugby.” In addition, our commitment is not only to the playing field but our local community and society in general. At all times we encourage our players and coaches to volunteer and contribute their time to locally organized events. In addition we apportion part of our annual budget to charitable donations. Our annual Catalina Island Rugby Festival, to benefit Redondo Beach based Wellness Community, was hugely successful. Because of this, we contributed enough funding to make the largest non-corporate donation of the year to the South Bay Cities’ oldest cancer support, education, and hope center. Currently LARC fields three Men’s teams, and an Old Boys (over 35) side bringing our active roster to over 115 members. Our competitive league season runs January through May of each year with playoffs extending through June. During July through September we enter Sevens tournaments around the western United States. These tournaments pit us against the best teams from Portland to San Diego and from Santa Monica to Albuquerque. Moreover, at any time throughout the year we may host visiting clubs from overseas who go on tour at the end of their competitive season. Belonging to a worldwide fraternity is one of the unique features of this truly international sport. This is an added attraction for our sponsors, as it means more exposure geographically for an extended period of time.
