International Pacific Halibut Commission

The International Pacific Halibut Commission (IPHC) was established in 1923 by a Convention between the governments of Canada and the United States of America. Its mandate is to develop the stocks of Pacific halibut (Hippoglossus stenolepis) in the Convention waters to those levels which will permit the optimum yield from the fishery and to maintain the stocks at those levels.
