We have been teaching the Lehigh Valley for over 25 years, and our unique style offers class instruction for students of all ages, from pre-k up to and including mature adult. Our curriculum surpasses other martial arts academies by providing a variety of class levels, each of which is broken down by age and rank. In addition to separate child and adult formats found at most martial arts schools, HKA also offers a “junior” curriculum, which has been divided into two class groups to accommodate adolescents (Junior I) and teens (Junior II). Additionally, Sensei Hoover has created the valley’s premiere martial arts class for adult students by combining his reality-based martial arts style with an excellent workout. A message from owner, founder and head Sensei Timothy Hoover: As founder, owner and head sensei of HKA, I welcome you to our family.I have been training in the Martial Arts since 1973 and opened my first dojo in 1981. Since then, we have been perfecting our academy in many ways. I believe our approach to teaching is what makes us unique. Our style, Kwon Ryu Fu Chi Do, is a mixed martial art self defense system, pulled from six different Martial Arts: Tae Kwon Do, Shorin Ryu, Goju Ryu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi Chuan and Juijitsu. I started my martial arts training in 1973 at the age of 16, and I have received ranks in three different systems/styles. My rankings are as follows: 2nd Degree Black Belt under Master Nenou in Tae Kwon Do. 5th Degree Black Belt under Master Hawk in Sen Lin Chuan. 7th Degree Black Belt in Kwon Ru Fu Chi Do – the style in which I created and founded. I have also received training in the art forms of Tang Soo Do, American Kenpo and Jiujitsu. Hoover Karate Academy currently offers two training facilities for your convenience: Whitehall, Pennsylvania (established in 1984); and Allentown, Pennsylvania (established in 2004). Our academy is family owned and operated, and is not a franchise school. I have enjoyed my martial arts journey along the way, and take great pride in the friends and families whose lives have enriched mine. My goal is to continue to evolve by offering a realistic, street-smart self-defense style which also incorporates physical conditioning, mental focus, and emotional stability. I teach Kwon Ryu Fu Chi Do as a way of life, an opportunity to refine character, and the ability to increase self-awareness one day at a time, one person at a time.
