Mission Statement: We come to be in the presence of God, so that we can be the presence of God in the world around us. In 1913, nineteen community members gathered, at the corner of Walworth Ave and Fenimore Road, to worship in a portable chapel borrowed from the Presbytery of Hudson River. The Rev. George Smyth, as founding pastor, helped the group organize Hitchcock Memorial Presbyterian Church and build a sanctuary at this corner. That sanctuary, with classrooms underneath, was dedicated in 1917. Subsequently a manse was built, and the Chirldren's House was dedicated in 1927. The congregation organized the music ministry and choir, the Sunday school, Women's Guild, Missionary Society and Women's Prayer Group. After serving the congregation for 36 years, the Rev. Smyth retired in 1949.
