The Dominican Women’s Development Center has twenty five years of experience providing services to the Washington Heights/Inwood communities, the upper Manhattan, and other New York City Communities. Established in 1988, The Dominican Women's Development Center (DWDC) stands as the epi-center of women, children, youth, and family focused activity in the upper Manhattan communities. A non-profit, membership organization, The Dominican Women's Development Center’s mission is to counteract gender subordination by promoting self sufficiency, advancing educational goals and engendering the necessary skills and self-esteem to transform individual lives and community.
To this end, DWDC has developed a matrix of program services that includes; Anti-Domestic Violence, Educational Development, Economic Development, a home-based early head start program, a preventive program and a health promotion program.
