C.A.E.P. is an entirely volunteer organization. Our clients chose CAEP independently. They are not remanded to CAEP. We do welcome clients who
choose to complete community service. We identify families who are new to the
North Shore. We see 20 to 35 students daily. The performance of CAEP is the
Support students in completing summer reading and/ or research objectives set
forth by the Lynn Public School District. Specific program hours are dedicated
to study and instruction as related to these goals. Individual progress is
recorded and delivered to parents and teachers at the end of the summer.
Develop a specific college application plan for all junior and senior year
students. In addition to our College Apps 101 mini- course, individual assistance
is offered in requesting letters of recommendation, connecting students with
community service, career opportunities, and extracurricular engagement to
enhance applications. A copy of each student’s road map will be sent at the
end of June. Progress metrics are delivered to district guidance counselors and
parents in late August.
Provide otherwise unattainable access to guided/ individualized development
and contribute to a more comprehensive education, including: academic
tutoring, work experience, creative and community service opportunities. The
youth served by CAEP are overwhelmingly at a socio- economic disadvantage
and have limited to these necessary steps in an upwardly mobile high school
career. The participation and achievement of specific goals for each student-
number of job applications sent, GPA, admissions test scoring, community
service hours, etc- are tracked year- round and serve as the program’s main
metric success. This is also true to a Project Summer.
Zion Baptist Church/College Application Project, Inc. (CAEP) Initiative has begun a successful General Educational Development (GED) Program.
The hours of operation are Monday to Wednesday from 8:30am to 12:00pm and then again for special circumstances the GED Program is available Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The goal has been to assist students to pass the GED in order for students to satisfy employment and educational requirements. In addition, students and encouraged to enroll in the local Community College through its Ability to Benefit Testing Program. The GED Program acts as a conduit for students with families and children to qualify for assistance from federal and state agencies. The GED Program has on site Day Care.
The students are encouraged to take the GED Test in parts. Some of the students have taken the test in the past, but did not pass all sections. The students that have taken the test this year in sections have a 100% passing rate.
