Cindy Monk deploys more than 25 years experience as a Realtor in Houston, San Francisco, and in the Birmingham area for the past 18 years specializing in new construction, property management and resale real estate sales. In 2005, she formed the 50+ Housing Council through the National Association of Home Builders for the Greater Association of Home Builders, she has been dedicated to understanding the housing needs of the Older Adults. To better help Older Adults and their Families through this process, Monk underwent a rigorous vetting and educational curriculum to achieve the prestigious designation of Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP) of the Seniors Real Estate Institute. Cindy’s dedication to helping older adults extends far beyond serving as a Realtor. From 2012-2017, Cindy sat on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Coalition for Culture, a group that works to improve living conditions for seniors. Also in 2013, Cindy worked with the City Council and Mayor to have the city officially proclaim every August 21 hereafter as National Senior Citizens Day in Vestavia Hills. From 2013-2014, she serviced as Director of Realtor Education for Access for All creating educating real estate professionals and consumers statewide regarding accessible housing for all. Currently she is presenting a series “Valuable Facts for Baby Boomers and Senior Adults. Additionally, she regularly conducts classes on Decluttering, “Downsizing Made Easy” and “Moving Mom and Dad.” Designations achieved are Master in Residential Marketing (MIRM), Certified Aging in Place (CAPS), Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES), Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP). Other accomplishments are President of Springville Chamber of Commerce. She has served as a volunteer for Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused children, Family Facilitator for National Association of the Mentally Ill (NAMI). Her past experience and in-depth approach has resulted in forming a team of experts to best serve the housing needs of older adults as they become aware of their new normal while journeying through many options in preparation of deciding to age in place or move to a new home or a retirement community. Currently she is an Associate Broker with Keller Williams Realty. She maintains, “I am first a senior advocate, then a realtor and my goal is to see that my clients are happier in the next place they move to.”
