Bygone Basics - Heritage Farm to Fork Cooking School
5200 Anderson Rd, Montague, 49437, MI, United States
Discover the joys of cooking, baking, canning, fermenting, making meals easy while experiencing hands on learning in a unique cooking school. The home of Bygone Basics is the high ceilinged parsonage finished in 1872 for the Ferry Memorial Church and then painstakingly moved (Rather than be destroyed in the 1970's). This is a great activity for friends, bridal parties, generations of families, spouses, co-workers and so on. Open for in-depth private sessions by appointment. Each group is privately held no extra people are involved. It is held in an atmosphere of laughter, great stories, and hearty food. Each Experience is priced based on the number of persons in the group and the type of experience. Times are flexible. Baked Goods, jams, soaps, hand-dipped tapers and other items available at the Bygone Basics Pantry. After September, just call before stopping in. Order your baked goods (pies, cookies, scones, breads....) made just to your request with a simple call or email. This is a also a Bed & Breakfast tailored to heritage farm-stay relaxation. Check out www.amandasbequest.com. Remember....a gift certificate would be a fabulous idea to ensure quality time with a friend or someone else who is special. Go back to simpler times. Experience for yourself the heritage skills of your choosing. Enjoy making a memory and gaining skills while hands-on experiencing artisan food skills and home making skills like soap making, knife skills, pasta making, preparing entire meals from scratch using natural ingredients, bread making, home canning, making jams and jellies, pies and much more! Learn how these skills were made using old tools and seeing how today's tools can cut your effort to a serious minimum. This is all undertaken in a circa 1872 Manse that harkens back to old-style farmhouse living. An absolutely fabulous experience while gaining skills you will use to reduce food costs, ensure the safety of your foods, and re-live a piece of heritage that is fast becoming lost. Complete with a "pantry" for purchase of baked goods, jams/jellies, heritage soaps and candles. Also the home of Amanda's Bequest Bed & Breakfast. Make it a complete vacation....stay and play here!
