ACE for Dogs

Apple offers in-your-home pet and house sitting. ACE for Dogs is a Professional member of Association of Professional Dog Trainers, AKC CGC Evaluator and insured by Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Together, Carol and Apple have over 25 years combined experience training dogs, from pet dogs, AKC Canine Good Citizen, to AKC rally obedience, UKC obedience trials, and certified visiting therapy dogs. ACE for Dogs trainers are professional members of Association of Professional Dogs Trainers (www.apdt.com). ACE for Dogs goals are: 1- For you to spend time with your dog and for you to get to know each other and have fun 2- Every dog learns differently and we want to help you learn which is the best way to teach your dog 3- Learn a little bit of dog behavior to help you understand WHY your dog does the things s/he does 4- Our training techniques work on a combination of praise and discipline; we will describe which works best for what scenarios Meet the trainers: Apple has a B.S. in Environmental Conservation Science. She is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, El Salvador, 2000-2002. Her journeys carried her to NM in 2005 where she gained experience working with wildlife (think lizards, rodents, birds), horses, cattle and dogs. In 2014, Apple helped to launch another dog training business in Roswell and then, in 2015 she ventured off on her own. She currently works at a veterinarian clinic, enjoys gardening and hiking with her dogs. Rio, a half boston terrier/half american cattle dog, is a rescue dog from Alamogordo. He has been with Apple since 2014 and titled in AKC CGC, AKC Rally Novice and has earned his Therapy Dog Certification through TDI (tdi-dog.org). Rio is a happy-go-lucky dog that loves to go for walks, go hiking and "make people smile" in the nursing homes. He is a good example of a "soft temperament" dog and loves treats. Rio will be an "example dog" during classes. Apple also has Zazu, a 2 year old neutered male border collie mix and a 6 year old cat, Twix, who were both rescues from Roswell Humane Society (http://www.roswellhumane.org) Carol has trained 5 dogs for visiting therapy work over the past (and current) 20 plus years. She has assisted in various obedience training classes during the same time period and competed with a mixed breed dog in UKC Obedience Trials. Carol is an advocate of obedience classes and taken all of her dogs through Basic and Advanced courses successfully, along with some agility training just for fun! Carol is retired from "normal" work but her dog training activities are keeping her busy as if she was working full time. Marshal is a 3 year old neutered male Golden Retriever. He has successfully passed basic and advanced obedience classes along with AKC CGC certification and has earned his Therapy Dog Certification through TDI. He currently visits 3+ facilities in Roswell along with Carol as a Therapy Dog. He will be used as a demonstration dog in class also. Carol also has a 3 year old spayed lab mix, Holly, and a new, future therapy dog, puppy: Ellie May.
