Founded in 1973, with a loan from her best friend and a week’s worth of credit from suppliers, our grandmother, Dorothy Turner Everett with the help of her nine children, opened the first Everett & Jones Barbecue restaurant on 92nd Avenue in Oakland California. Today, with four locations and a 5th in progress, Everett & Jones Barbecue is the longest running African American owned business in Oakland. To compliment the meat our grandmother created her own signature sauce. Like our grandmother’s original sauce, 92nd Sauce comes in 3 different heat intensities (Mild, Medium and Hot).
