The Outspoken Media Strategy Series returns with a panel of media experts: WAMC News Director Ian Pickus, POLITICO Albany Bureau Chief Jimmy Vielkind, All Over Albany co-founder Greg Dahlmann, and UAlbany Associate Professor and investigative journalist Rosemary Armao who will discuss where the news is today and where it's headed. Outspoken Media CEO Rhea Drysdale will moderate.
Rosemary Armao: Rosemary Armao returned to the Albany area after decades covering news and politics around the world, including Eastern Europe and Africa. She is the former Executive Director of Investigative Reporters and Editors and former President of the Journalism and Women Symposium. She teaches at SUNY Albany and can be heard regularly on WAMC's The Roundtable.
Greg Dahlmann: Greg Dahlmann is the co-founder of All Over Albany. Before that, he worked in public radio as a reporter, host, and producer.
Ian Pickus: Ian Pickus has been news director at WAMC/Northeast Public Radio since 2013, overseeing a network of reporters and producers in a six-state listening area. He was previously a newsroom producer, joining the station 2008. He has been a lecturer in the University at Albany journalism program since 2013. He holds a BA in English and journalism and an MA in English, both from the University at Albany.
Jimmy Vielkind: Jimmy Vielkind is a founding member of POLITICO's New York State Capitol bureau, becoming bureau chief in 2013. He has been reporting on New York State news and politics since 2008, first for the New York Observer and then for the Times Union.
