General Opening: Dreaming with Lions

Faena Art invites you to the opening of Dreaming with Lions by Alexandre Arrechea.

For Miami Art Week 2020, Faena Art aims to inspire hope and reinforce its commitment to shaping Miamis cultural landscape through art. The public spaces within the Faena District will allow for a safe environment to view and interact with the artworks, bringing together the local community.

Dreaming with Lions is the product of a year-long reflection by Alexandre Arrechea inspired by Ernest Hemingways seminal literary work, The Old Man and the Sea. Erected directly on the beach in front of Faena Hotel, the work will serve as a living monument to the sheer force of the human spirit.

Since 2015, Faena Art has been consistently dedicated to showcasing artwork inspired by and for the community of Miami Beach. The significance of this years commission, particularly in a moment where outdoor public art is critical to inspire audiences while maintaining a safe social distance, will preserve Faena Arts cultural agenda, honour the continued contributions of Miamis thriving cultural community, and celebrate the impact art makes year-round on the city.
