Brought to you by First United Church Nursery School and the Collaboration for Early Childhood, this workshop will explore the idea that grief is not just about the death of a loved one. The feelings and behaviors of grieving can be similar after other types of loss (miscarriage, divorce, moving, and loss of relationships, including loss of a pet or friend). In adults, grief includes sadness, intense emotional pain, and a variety of behavioral responses. In preschoolers, grief often shows up in regressive behaviors, decreased verbalization, and increased anxiety. This workshop will create a toolbox of grieving tips (such as family rituals, preschool classroom rituals, meditation practices, and gratitude journaling).
