Norfolk Theater History on Foot + Food!

Discover Norfolk's vibrant theater history as we visit former sites and use historical photos to imagine Norfolk's past

If you love theater, food, and discovery, this tour is for you!

We'll meet in the lobby of the Roper Performing Arts Center, formerly the historic Loew's Theater. From there, we'll explore Downtown Norfolk's rich history of the performing arts, discussing performers that have graced the city's stages and visiting current theaters and former sites.

Using historical photos, we'll reconstruct a vision of Downtown Norfolk's arts scene, the evolution of performance in Norfolk theaters, the tragic fates of some theaters no longer standing, and how the performing arts have shaped Downtown Norfolk into what it is today.

Then we will head back to the Roper Performing Arts Center, where their executive director will provide us with a backstage tour of the theater!

Then it's off to Brick Anchor Brew House for a FREE hors d'oeuvres sampling!
