Nora Valdez: Unmoored
Valdez is an award-winning international artist working and exhibiting since 1977. Born and raised in Argentina, her work has been exhibited in Europe, Asia, North, Central and South America, including numerous international Sculpture Symposiums. Valdez has over 15 permanent Public Art pieces sited around the world, and is the recipient of many awards, as well as national and international funding. Nora currently resides in Cambridgeport.
Unmoored explores the recurring themes in Nora's work of home, displacement, belonging in our uncertain times. The stone sculptures featured in Unmoored are expressions of both personal and collective anxiety in a time of great upheaval, offering the viewer the opportunity to resonate with themes of change, movement, security and insecurity. In addition to Valdezs sculptural work, the exhibition features the backdrop of a large drawing, shedding light on Valdezs artistic process which begins with sketches.
