This walk is a partnership between Nature in the City and CNPS!
Tucked into the southeast corner of San Francisco, Bayview Hill offers visitors a wealth of wildlflowers in spring and unique views all year round. The grasslands are among the best in the city. We expect to see mule's ears, Ithuriel spears, coast onion and many other wildflowers. This will be a great chance to see some interesting grasses as well. We'll talk a bit about the wildlife that live in the park, and the history of conservation at the site.
Walk Leader: Rachel Kesel
Rachel Kesel has been climbing the natural hilltops of San Francisco since 2000, first as a dog walker and later as a conservation professional. Rachel worked for the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department for five years. She was the stewardship lead for Bayview Hill for much of that time. Rachel now works in Marin County, but she comes home to walk her dog in San Francisco's open spaces, where they both enjoy spring wildflowers.
