This is an interactive course teaching basic bleeding control methods essential for our active and adventurous lifestyles. In this course, you will learn how to identify life threatening injuries and bleeding, how to pack wounds and properly apply a tourniquet.

This is a free event and is open to everyone. Children under age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

This education stems from the 2012 tragedy in Sandy Hook. In the wake of this event, the White House, along with the American College of Surgeons and several other leaders in trauma, convened the Hartford Consensus. The goal of the Hartford Consensus was to improve survivability from manmade or natural mass casualty events. The resulting injuries from these events, carry a significant risk for life threatening bleeding. The Hartford Consensus concluded that by re-enforcing this education with first responders and empowering the knowledge and role of civilians, also known as “immediate responders” (YOU), lives would be saved.

Additional information on the Stop the Bleed Program can be found at www.bleedingcontrol.org

Medical personnel who successfully complete this course will be eligible to become a Stop the Bleed Instructor. Please speak with your instructor for more information.
