Monhegan Island, Maine Walking Trip
When: August 1st-8th
Where: Mystic Connecticut and Monhegan Island, Maine
We will spend 2 nights and one day in Mystic, Connecticut taking walks and exploring the area.
Then we head up to Monhegan Island, Maine. Monegan is a former whaling outpost 9 miles off the mainland. It retains much of its character from former times. Cars (Except service vehicles) are not allowed on the island. We stay at an inn that is mostly lit by kerosene lamps. We will take walks each morning amongst the sea cliffs and rugged coastline. Please be aware that Monhegan does not offer activities other than enjoying the beauty of the island. It is well known to artist who come to paint the natural beauty. To join, you should make arrangements with the Trailing Yew Inn on Monhegan for August 4th (arrive) through August 8th (Depart) immediately. You must be a club member to participate in overnight trips.
