Successfully Anxious: let's change the conversation about anxiety and start living successfully

Anxiety affects over 18% of our population (40 million people) every year and is the number one mental health issue in North America. Do you struggle with this disorder? If so, do you ask yourself questions like, "Am I crazy?...Would people treat me different if they knew?...Will I ever feel ok again?" 

At this LLN, Leanne Loy, along with Dr. Julie Johnson, will help change the way we talk about mental illness. They'll blow up the stigmas that still exist today and make you more comfortable with how you view anxiety disorder- in yourself, and in others.   

Anxiety can manifest itself in many different ways, both physical and emotional. Leanne knows this first hand as she has lived half her life with the disorder. And in spite of its daily challenges, she lives a very successful life. Dr. Johnson has a passion for helping women who struggle with the affects of anxiety. Together they will take you on a journey through the pitfalls and revelations of living successfully with anxiety and teach you how to embrace an anxious mind. 

OUR SPEAKERS:

Leanne Loy

Leanne Loy has been editing and writing novels, poetry and creative nonfiction for the last five years. In 2017 she founded White Ink Books, an editing and publishing company. In early 2018 she started the journey of creating a literary center in St. Cloud, MN and in September of this year the official FaceBook page was created for the Celia Mae Literary Center. Leanne was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder in 2004 and has become an advocate for others who experience the same daily struggles. 

Dr. Julie Johnson

Dr. Julie Johnson is a family medicine physician with over 20 years of experience caring for patients cradle-to-grave. She is the Regional Medical Director for HealthPartners Central MN Clinic. Outside of her professional life she loves to vacation by the ocean, scuba dive with her family, and is a dedicated horse mom to two daughters who ride dressage.
