Mochi Tsuki - rice cake pounding
It's time for the annual Japanese tradition of pounding sweet rice into "mochi" - round dumplings for the new year. Come at the crack of dawn to help steam the rice. First pounding starts around 10:30am and after the 11am service, free samples of fresh mochi for everyone (limited amount for sale - we do not accept advance orders). Open to the public - especially those who want to participate in the pounding, turning and shaping.
