Mindfulness: How to Use a Technique Without a Clear Definition.
Presented by Mirza Baig, MDBoard member, Walk-In Counseling Center
About the Presenter:
By trade, Mirza Baig is a psychiatrist embedded within Primary Care at Allina Health. Part of his work with patients is helping them learn how to manage what they are going through better, and not just with medications. As a leader, he also works on mental health care quality improvement and programs. As one would hope, Mirza does practice mindfulness himself!
Mindfulness has been the buzzword in some circles for years now. Is it a fad or is it a mental superpower? How do we understand something with many different meanings and ways to use it? What on earth does it mean to be present without judgement? Through this training activity we will concretely understand what mindfulness is, and how it can be used to promote mental health.
Learning Objectives:1. Understanding the many definitions of mindfulness
2. Learn how to apply mindfulness to one’s life
3. Understand how to promote and use mindfulness in mental health settings
CEU's: For each training, 2 CEUs are available. Trainings are free to Walk-In volunteers and former volunteers. A nominal fee is requested of non-volunteers.
