Join husband and wife duo Itamar Srulovich and Sarit Packer, co-owners of London Middle Eastern restaurants Honey & Co, Honey & Spice, and Honey & Smoke for a hands-on class focusing on making the most of fresh, seasonal produce in the warmer months. Itamar and Sarit will show you why quick pickling fruit is your next go-to kitchen trick as you make Pickled Peach Salad with Pistachios and Parsley (say that five times fast!). Then, you’ll learn the technique behind a perfectly smooth, silky green eggplant dip that is as at home on a cheese board as it is spooned over fried eggs. For your main course, you’ll make steak fatoush salad with grapes and tomatoes, which comes together quickly enough for a weeknight meal but feels elegant. Finally, for dessert, you’ll enjoy strawberry ricotta cakes—the perfect end to a warm-weather feast. Sarit and Itamar will walk you through these recipes, all of which come from their new book Honey & Co: At Home, and will also talk about how to choose perfect produce and adapt recipes to the changing seasons.
About the chefs:
Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich opened Honey & Co. restaurant in 2012 in London, launching their grill Honey & Smoke and deli Honey & Spice close behind. Cooking and baking since she was 5, Sarit trained at Butler's Wharf, at the Orrery under Chris Galvin, J Sheekey, The OXO Tower, Ottolenghi, and Nopi. Itamar Srulovich was born and raised in Jerusalem. Cooking since the age of 5 and leaving a great mess in the kitchen ever since, Itamar trained on the job in various places in Tel Aviv where he met Sarit.
About the book:
Honey & Co: At Home takes the husband and wife team out of their restaurant kitchen and into their home, allowing them to share rich stories about the dishes that mean the most to them. From breads to bakes, salads to sweets, there is something for everyone in this celebration of Middle Eastern cooking. Wholesome, fresh and seasonal ingredients are organized into chapters For Us Two, For Friends, For the Weekend, For a Crowd, and For the Kitchen. The mouth-watering recipes featured in this book are quick and simple to make—these will quickly become staple recipes that you, friends and family will savor again and again.
Their first book Honey & Co: The Cookbook (2015) was named Cookbook of the Year by The Sunday Times, Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards Cookery Book of the Year 2015, and The Guild of Food Writer's Award Winner for Best First Book.
