Meet GK Director of SEED Mark Lawrence Cruz
"Mark has been with GK since 2004. He started out as a volunteer community organizer in Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija where 121 families were relocated after a series of 4 strong typhoons. He has since served various mission assignments which included leading the partnership between Ateneo and GK, creation of GK Field Manuals, coordination of partnerships with school through the GK Builders Institute, and the scaling up of programs for hunger and malnutrition.
He is currently serving as the Director of GK's School for Experiential & Entrepreneurial Development (SEED Philippines) which is dedicated to raising agri social entrpreneurs from among the young rising poor, beginning with the children of GK residents. He also heads Kusina ng Kalinga which is GK's flagship anti-hunger program which addresses hunger for 100,000 children daily. He is also currently piloting a program to address proper nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life. He also carries out research and capacity building work with the GK-Ateneo Coordinating Office.
He is a faculty member of the Ateneo School of Government and is currently working on his doctoral studies at the UP National College of Public Administration and Governance.
He graduated from Ateneo 2002 BS Business Management and MA Philosophy.
