Cultura in Pilsen is thrilled to announce that hip hop artist Mare Advertencia Lirika is returning to Cultura in Pilsen on Saturday, May 14th!

Mare is of Zapotec heritage and hails from Oaxaca, Mexico. She uses music as a consciousness-awakening tool and to strengthen relationships within social justice movements in Oaxaca, as well as other locations. She also addresses issues of inequality towards women in our society and has worked with diverse collectives and organizations throughout Mexico and the world.

This will be an incredible show! For more info on Mare see her website at

This is an all ages show. We will be taking suggested donations of $15 (cash or charge) at the door for walk-ups and for those with the 'Free' tickets, but for faster entry, please purchase a "General Admission Entry (PAID)" ticket at the Eventbrite link provided.

Event will also feature the talents of:

Ona from Elephant Rebellion: Ona is a spoken word poet, artist, social justice advocate, educator, and trained restorative justice peace circle keeper. Their work explores the personal as political, intersection between social identities, and building solidarity between movements. Ona is a multiethnic queer Chicago native and member of the social justice artist collective Elephant Rebellion

DJ Stephanie Manriquez (Fanita Banana): As part of the music enthusiasts duo “The Ponderers”, Stephanie pushes forward in her writing and collective DJ sets to feature female-fronted & Latin-alternative music. The Ponderers are passionate about artists who they feel--at some point in time whether through lyrics, a video or a beat-- to have inspired them as artists and people.
