Like many Angelenos, your first encounter with Luchita Hurtado’s colorful, abstract-meets-still-life works was likely at the Hammer Museum’s 2018 edition of its biennial, Made in L.A. Now, LACMA is assembling a first-ever career survey of paintings and works on paper from the 99-year-old artist, who’s lived and worked in Santa Monica since the 1950s.
Ahead of the opening
, Hurtado herself will sit down with Serpentine Galleries artistic director Hans Ulrich Obrist and LACMA curator Jennifer King.
