Drummer Mike Melito has been a fixture on the Rochester and Upstate NY jazz scene for over thirty years. He began his professional career at age sixteen. Over the years Mike has played and recorded with some of the world's greatest jazz musicians. He has worked with such legends as James Moody, Benny Golson, Barry Harris and JR Monterose. He also has worked with Eric Alexander, Danilo Perez, Vincent Herring, Harry Allen, Chris Potter, Richie Cole, Pat Labarbera, Peter Bernstein and many others. Mike is the house drummer of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival and backs many artists throughout the festival each year. He has six critically acclaimed CD's as a leader and is on over twenty five more as a sideman. In addition to performing, Mike has been teaching drums for over thirty years and is on the faculty at the Eastman Community Music School and RAMP in Fairport.
