Linear drumming is an approach to get- ting around the kit used by gospel, jazz, funk and rock drummers. In this class we will explore several points of entry into the world of linear drumming: Paradiddle based linear grooves and fills / gridding out mixed–length linear ideas / improvisation-based “linear target practice” and sequencing even–length linear elements. All with the specific goal of finding a starting point for each class member that makes sense and leads quickly to finding the flow of linear drumming.
