We are excited to offer you the American Red Cross Instructor-Led Lifeguarding course. The outbreak of COVID-19 created a world of social distancing. Our lifeguarding course combines online instructor-led sessions with in-person skills sessions reducing the touch points and time spent together. CDC indicates that there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. Proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) of these facilities should inactivate the virus in the water.
Our training guidelines include phased training, heightened hand hygiene and sanitizing procedures recommended by CDC,enhanced PPE requirements, including face coverings being worn for the duration of the in-person sessions (except for when submerged in-water), participant screening, and further training for our Lifeguard Instructors. Our training guidelines are based on input from many certifying agencies and CDC.
