Every second Saturday of each month, Tacoma Gallery will host a three-hour class (which includes one hour of instruction & drawing, followed by two hours of open drawing). If you don’t need/want instruction, you may join us during the last two hours of class for open drawing. Classes begin at 1:00pm and open drawing begins at 2:00pm. The class and open session end promptly at 4:00pm.
Gesture, schematic, sight-measuring, basic proportion, skeletal proportion, muscular landmarks, soft-edge and hard-edge shading, and developing the figure as a source of narrative expression will all be covered. Each class will have content that can be learned as a stand-alone class or combined sequentially. Topics and content will be posted on Tacoma Gallery’s website

and Instagram

.
Students are responsible for bringing materials.
The class is open to ages 16 to adult. No guests/children will be allowed. Due to the sensitive nature of drawing from a nude model, every participant must agree to the studio rules.
The class is being taught by Jason Sobottka, Department Chair: Humanities and Visual Art at Lake Washington Institute of Technology. He teaches printmaking, painting and 200/300-level life drawing courses at LWTECH. Jason also teaches at Tacoma Community College.
