Lake Agassiz Concert Band presents “The Originals”
3:00, Sunday, May 19, 2019
Horizon Middle School Auditorium
3601 12th Ave S, Moorhead, MN 56560
The Lake Agassiz Concert Band is please to announce their final performance for the 2018-2019 concert season on May 19th at 3:00 pm at the Horizon Middle School Auditorium. We are thrilled to be one of the first groups to perform in this brand new space; one of the finest of its kind in the Fargo Moorhead area.
“The Originals” our final concert of this season will feature pieces that are unique and highlight the sounds that can only be made with a concert band. Suite of Old American Dances by Robbert Russell Bennett, and Irish Tune from County Derry by Percy Grainger are two such pieces that have become beloved showcases of the wonderful art that can be created using wind band as an artistic medium. West River Jubilee by John Darling is an exciting piece written in honor of a family member of one of our percussionists. Moods on the Wind by Susan Clambey is a colorful piece written in dedication to the Lake Agassiz Concert Band. We are also excited to share a taste of the future by performing a movement of James Barnes’s Ninth Symphony, a piece we will be sharing in full, next season. We home you join us and enjoy these original works of art!
The Lake Agassiz Concert Band has been active in the Fargo-Moorhead area since 1987. Under the direction of Dr. Monte Grisé, the band, comprised of adult wind and percussion players, performs four free formal concerts each year. Additional community performances include outdoor appearances at the MPR Classical Music Festival and other occasional special concerts. The LACB’s goal is to provide the community with free, outstanding musical performances; to create an artistic outlet for serious wind and percussion performers in the area; and to perform challenging traditional and contemporary wind band music.
