**THE WHAT**
May 13th. San Francisco. Handstand is proud to present Kartwheel! It's a series of battle races inspired by live Mario Kart.

Whatttttt?! Yes, we know. We've been dreaming of this for just as long as you have. C'mon, if we work together we can pick your jaw off the floor. 1, 2, 3, up! Nice work.

**THE HOW**
Take a look at the hype video to get a sense of how this works!

Forget about a sticky Z button or sitting on the couch, we're putting you in control. Using our mobile app, you'll run three laps of our half mile course (1.5 mile races for you math fiends out there).

The app will direct you to where the question mark zones are. When you run through those geo-tagged zones, your phone will freak out and give you a power up (shells, bananas, and other new items we've dreamt up).

Once you get an item, you'll be able to fire it from your phone at other racers who are running. If hit, they'll have to stop, complete a mini-game on their phone, and then they'll be able to keep running. You might have to record a 10s video describing your most embarrassing moment, tap the screen as fast as you can, or just run backwards as punishment.

Dopest thing ever right? We thought so. That's why we made this in the first place.

**THE FAQs**
"But what if I'm not a runner?" "What happens if I get tired?" "Will I ever win anything if I'm not fast?" Gosh, you're sharp with the questions. Is someone feeding you these?

We've created the game so that being the fastest doesn't always mean you'll win. Best items go to the people further back in the race just like in the classic game. Take your time on the course and go at whatever pace you want. Why would you want this to end anyway?

Not that fast or too tired? The game is played with a partner and both of your accomplishments are tallied on the leaderboard. Play mini games in The Village to continue to pump up your team score. Mini games will be a mixture of meeting new people and fun (less active) competitions. Sponsor tents will also be set up to offer prizes, swag, and other fun stuff.

You purchase tickets in pairs and find much more information at Kartwheelrace.com. Tickets are sold in tiers, and the price goes up once a tier runs out. Drop a banana, throw a shell, just don't be the last to these tickets!

**THE DETAILS**
May 13th, 2017. 1-5pm. Hellman Hollow West Meadow (in Golden Gate Park).

**FINE PRINT***
This game is iOS ONLY so if you have an Android you'll have to get creative. Borrow an iPhone from a less-fun friend, rent one for a day, or buy a brand new one and return it when you're done. Apple has a great return policy. We wish we had an Android app so bad but we're a small bootstrapped team making magic so we're limited in our extremely finite resources! Reach out to us if you're in trouble here and we can talk through solutions.
