Join this session to discover the impactful world of JDRF Advocacy and the ways your voice can be used and heard!

From Professional Athlete to Professional Diabetic - Speaker - Rob Howe: Diagnosed with T1D at age 16, the biggest question Rob had was whether diabetes would prevent him from chasing his dream of becoming a professional basketball player. With the help of his doctors, family and friends, Rob was able to live his dream of playing basketball at the college and professional levels--all while managing T1D. In 2015, his career as an athlete behind him, he founded Diabetics Doing Things, in order to use his story to help inspire people with diabetes to continue to chase their dreams, whatever they may be. Nearly 5 years, 1,000,000 podcast downloads, 30k social media followers and numerous talks all around the world, Rob has embraced his new calling as a "Professional" person with Diabetes.

Nutrition Trends in T1D - Speaker- Lauren Plunkett RND, LD, CDE: This educational session will cover where we are in nutrition trends today, including the latest and greatest in nutrition research to support the best outcomes in health and blood sugar control. Additionally, we'll discus how to eat strategically to sustain energy levels and develop long-term healthy habits fad-diet free. This presentation is gluten-free friendly and suitable for all ages and stages of diabetes.

Psychosocial Barriers and Behavioral Change - Speaker - Ann Hernandez, MD: It can be hard to manage diabetes while trying to balance all the other parts of your life. This session will focus on some of the common psychosocial barriers and challenges that individuals living with T1D and their caregivers experience when trying to manage diabetes and offer strategies to make diabetes care an easier and less disruptive part of life.

Technology, Pumps, & CGMs Advanced Course - Panelists - Medtronic Diabetes, Tandem, Dexcom, Senseonics (Eversense), Insulet (Omnipod), InPen, Lilly Medical (Baqsimi - glucagon nasal powder): If you're experienced with the basics of technology and T1D, this may be for you! Exercise & T1D: Put the Wheels in Motion! - Speaker - Lauren Plunkett RND, LD, CDE: Exercise is healthy and necessary, but how do we prepare for, and manage blood sugar levels before, during, and after, for optimal control? Join this session to find out why duration and intensity of exercise matter, and how you can design your own protocol to not only prevent lows and highs during exercise but also overnight, while fueling performance at the same time. This presentation is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, beginners to competitive athletes.

From "Closet" Diabetic to Mama Warrior - Speaker - Jaime Cline: Diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at age three, Jaime spent years disliking her body.  Whether it was hiding the fact that she had diabetes at all or struggling to be comfortable showing her insulin pump, Jaime was her body’s worst critic. It wasn’t until she became a mother to a little girl with special needs, that she realized the negative body image she had cultivated had to change.  Jaime will share her journey from “closet” diabetic to being comfortable in her own skin.  Leaning in on embracing her Type One, beating a surprise cancer diagnosis, and raising a confident little girl are what motivates this body positive mama.  Her personal motto of “Bloom where you are planted” is evident in her blog, The Princess and the Prosthetic, and her social media platforms where she shares a peek into gracefully living with diabetes, raising a warrior princess, and embracing their perfectly imperfect lives.

Type1ToGo Teen Talk - Speaker - Anne Imber: This session will cover topics such as diabetes burnout and hormones along with college transition topics including drinking, communicating with professors, living on campus and academic accommodations.

Research Update: Q&A - Speaker - Simi Ahmed, PhD: If you left the research update at lunch and have some burning questions or are curious to learn more, this session is for you!
