How using recycled materials promotes inclusion and gender equality among preschool children

You will be able to try out yourself as well as hear about and see how Helena works in the schools atelier, using recycled material and how it promotes not only inclusion and gender equality but also creativity, language, sustainability and democracy.

Helena Pequeneza was born and raised in Sweden. She's always been interested in the different materials that are all around us. Things we recycle, things we find in the forest or at the beach or on our streets. As a teacher she's realized what a gold mine there types of material are. All this free material that gives us so much joy. She received her Teaching Credentials in California and for the past 13 years she's worked at the Scandinavian School from the beginning when it first opened its doors. For four years, she was a head teacher in the infant/toddler room. After that, she hosted a mothers group, was an outside yard teacher, classroom teacher and for the past four years an art studio teacher with the focus on reused and recycled materials.
