Adolescent years are full of opportunities and defined as an optimal time for learning. Having a trusted adult at school is considered a key ingredient for increasing students’ engagement and school connectedness. This training will provide school educators and student support services staff with a deep understanding of early adolescent development, and explore developmentally-tailored relationship-oriented approaches with an academic focus that enhance participants’ efficacy in connecting with adolescents.

Learning Objectives

• Learn key factors that promote healthy youth development and how to implement these features in working with adolescents in schools
• Understand and apply a developmental relationship framework including the completion of an individual student connection action plan
